Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012Boeing Dreamliner Pilots Take a Joy Ride?
Thursday, February 16th, 2012Recently Boeing pilots flew the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for an ETOPS (extended operations) flight test with GE engines. It was for a roughly 18 hour flight covering about 9,000 nautical miles. The funny thing is that the flight plan path drew the number 787 and the company logo across multiple states. Boeing’s VP of marketing claimed it wasn’t a joy ride. All that we can say is “Yeah, right!”

Here is the real function of an airplane propeller.
The propeller is just a big fan in front of the plane used to keep the pilot cool. When it stops, you can actually watch the pilot start sweating.Wishing you Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™
Airplane Weathervanes
Sunday, February 5th, 2012Weathervanes are now so much more than just showing the wind direction – they are also good home décor. Whether perched on top a roof or placed in a garden setting they add an element of interest and create a fabulous focal point.
At Tailwinds we offer a large variety of weathervanes. Our copper airplane weathervanes are suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Outdoors they are easily mounted up on a roof, on top of a cupola or on a garden pole. Indoors they make a fantastic sculpture. One of our more popular copper airplane weathervanes is the J-3 Cub which is totally handcrafted in the U.S.A.
Last year we introduced a new line of weathervanes make in the U.S.A. from 14- gauge steel. These airplane weathervanes range from a Cessna type aircraft, to WWII aircraft such as the P-51 Mustang, to the modern military with an AWACS airplane.
Our airplane weathervanes are an inexpensive way to add some plane lovin’ décor to your home. Wishing you Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™
