VS-44A Sikorsky Flying Boat Model

Our American Export Airlines VS-44A Airplane is a replica scale model of the original aircraft manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft. Flying boats were popular for transatlantic flight mainly because the airlines had easy docking facilities and did not need be concerned about building a runway. The VS-44A had a range of 4,000 miles and could seat 40 plus passengers. Only three aircraft were built along with two prototypes. The aircraft was introduced in 1942 and it was retired in 1968.
